- final shaping and slotting required (use our nut slotting flies .010 and .011) 

- nut has the standard US-size measurements: height 6.35 mm (1/4") / diameter 3.18 mm (1/8")

- 5th string nuts function as a guide to hold the 5th string in position along the fretboard and keep the string in line for the tuner

TRADITIONAL SETUP:

string rides above the 5th fret which allows for hard(er) playing without string buzzing on the 5th string

(nut determines the height of the string, so filing the nut slot is critical – check after every stroke!)

MODERN SETUP:

string rests onto the 5th fret (which thus acts as a "zero-nut" for better intonation)

for modern setup: the nut slot needs to be filed a bit deeper
